The Kansas City City Council just passed an ordinance to help promote urban agriculture. Community gardens are gaining steam, for good reason. Most of the time produce is organically grown, a new sense of community is established, there is no freight and oil costs, and the dollars stay in KC.

However, the ordinance did ban row gardens in the front yards. It remains to be seen if this is good, because now there are regulations on something that was never regulated and arguably doesn’t need to be regulated.

I do not know what you are thinking, people actually taking responsibility for their own lives. Planting a garden requires me to learn, think, and get up off my butt and stop watching American Idol. I could not do that, that time period is sacred to me and I like my mind turning to mush.
